Ice Storm On The Way ???

Good Afternoon,

Wednesday I made a post about a possible winter storm on or around March 6th, needless to say things continue to trend up and all 3 models are now in good agreement about a "storm" effecting the East Coast. Timing on this storm is still kinda in question with the GFS bringing it in on March 6th but, the EURO and Canadian bring it in on March 7th.

Another factor will be the CAD (Cold Air Damming) or "Wedge" setup. How much cold air will be in place when the moisture arrives ?

There is also a small outside chance that Monday night we could see some freezing drizzle especially in areas north of Columbia.
On Thursday the GFS is now on board with a Wedge setup and low pressure developing off the Coast of Georgia and South Carolina.

The Surface Temps will about right around freezing. Notice you can see the "Wedge" of cold air as far south as the Georgia/Alabama Border.

With the cold air at the surface and warm air overrunning, this shows a large area of Freezing Rain developing.

This map continues 6 Hrs later showing most of the midlands still receiving freezing rain.

Newest GFS runs suggesting possibly .5" of freezing rain or greater!

Monday night, SREF (Shor Range Ensemble Forecast) showing a 20% chance of Freezing Rain in the Midlands.
Now with all this being said, this is certainly going to change over the next couple days but, the model data is suggesting another winter storm for South Carolina.

I will keep everyone updated as the situation warrants. But, for now keep this in your mind.
